Penelope: I feel fortunate to have had 3 very different and challenging careers. When a life changing event suddenly interrupted my career path, I discovered that proverbial window we're promised opens when that giant door slams shut on our plans and dreams and I found the gratification science writing and helping balance our ecosystems through nature photography brings. It's also the perfect way to destress. I must thank my most persnickety magazine publishers, Animal Planet, HGTV, the BBC, but especially cnn for helping me hone my skills and for all that I learned from the talented pros while publishing my stories and photos there. I quickly realized I was in a competitive profession with a lot of well-schooled and talented professionals, so I decided to learn how to get good shots fast so they're intriguing and extraordinary, and wildlife became my favorite challenge and teachers. I've never stopped learning from them and ultimately others have joined me to explore and teach how to protect our ever changing ecosystems. I hope you enjoy your journey here, and reap the benefits of all I've learned - some by accident, some by hard work, and a little by luck - both good and bad.
